The disappointing climb

On the way up: "Yes, we are going to the peak!!"

This trip was an exciting trip but also a disappointing trip. Reason being disappointed was that we did not make it to the peak of Mount Kinabalu because it was raining heavily when we were on the way to the peak. The guides said the trail was to slippery and dangerous as people might fall off the cliff if they continue the journey.
During the climb, it was all about rain rain and rain....

Me and Mikes's friends going out for dinner

It rains every time when we wanted to go out from the hostel. We had no choice but put on our raincoat and walked around 100 metres from our hostel to reception counter where we could get some food. Summore my rain coat is those "ciplak" type. Got wear rain coat like no wear rain coat. hehe ... It rained again the next morning when we were about to start our climb, once again we were forced to put on our raincoat to walk to the reception counter and to have a light breakfast.. The rain stopped after that and we begin our climb to Gunting Lagadan, the place where will be staying before going to the peak at 2am the next day.

Red lines indicates our journey on the first day of our climb

As you can see from the board above, there are 2 trails to reach the summit. We decided to took the longer trail from Mesilau because the view was much more scenic. It took us 8 hours to reach Gunting Lagadan.

Forgotten the name of this plant, but it eat insects

Plants getting smaller at the top

After 8 hours climb, we reach Gunting and had some food there.

Mike's noodle soup and my fried rice cost 15 bucks each and the milo cost 6 bucks. Things are expensive up there because the porter have to carry the Gas tong and food up there.
After that, we took our bath and went to bed. Woke up at around 1am to prepare for the climb to the peak. The weather at the time was fine, but once we started our journey at 2am the rains fall again. We continued to climb in the rain for about 1.5 hours but was force to come down with all
our clothes wet.
Back at Gunting with our clothes wet in the freaking cold weather

We are just 1.5 km short to the peak. So geram ar!

We actually climbed up to Km7 and forced to climb down. Damn we were just 1.5km short to the peak. Really disappointed ar. haih ...

On the way down: "Fuck! we did not make it"

We were suppose to took pictures with our KUFC jersey when we are on the peak. But instead we took it on our way down. Damn....

Other than the climb, we also went to Hotspring and also white water rafting ... hehe ..

White water rafting

Looks more like Yellow water rafting though

Can spot me ma?

And Hotspring...

I am actually expecting a hotspring like those i saw on Tv in Japan. Those with stones around it and hot water with steam coming out. Haih, turn out to be a small bath tub where you have to open the pipe to fill in the bath tub with hot water.

One year working experience

After today, i can add another statement in my CV.
  • 1 year working experience.
Time really fly very fast. It just seems like i am working for a few months only and i have been stranded in KL for nearly a year already(2 more weeks).

By this year end and next year, there will be lots more friends from my badge to join me in the workforce. Friends like Khairul, Siew Fah, Cynthina, Clifton and Teck Lim will be graduating by year end and Munan, Lilian and Alan will be graduating by mid of next year. And for those pursuing medicine degree (we have lots around 7 perhaps?), they will need at least another 2 years to graduate i believe. Lorna and Michael might be first doctor that will be graduating from my badge. Hope to get free treatments after they graduate. hehe...

Anyway if u ask me on whether i prefer working or studying, for Now i would say i prefer working. The main reason being that is because exams suck!! As for working, of coz you don't need to worry about examinations. Worst also kenak "cuci burid" by boss nia. The only thing i miss the most when i was studying was the long summer break that we always had after finishing each years studies. It could be as long as 3 months holiday. In the 3 months times, i can go yumcha, go play football and can go lepak until midnite cos you can sleep until afternoon for the next day. In Miri, my working hours is as early as 7am. Wat the heck. If yumcha until 2am, the next day sure "fishing" in office ar. haha ..

The Safest flight ever ...

I was flying to KL from Miri last Wednesday when i actually met this guy when i was about to board the plane. He was just right behind my me when we were lining up to board the plane.

I think most of you wouldn't recognize this guy. This guy is actually the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) a.k.a Boss of Airasia, Mr Tony Fernandes. We actually had a short conversation after i took the photo with him.

Me : Mr.Tony, how's your progress for the long haul operation to Australian ?
Tony : Oh well, very good. The price is around Rm1000.
Me : To where?
Tony : Er, to Gold coast and Brisbane. We are actually landing at Coolongotta Airport which is nearer to Gold Coast.
Me : Oh, I know that place. How about your flight to Melbourne ? Are you landing at Avalon or Adelaide ?
Tony : It will be Avalon.

Ruhui must be hoping that their flight would actually stop at Adelaide Airport so that she could fly back to Malaysia more often. haha.. but sadly it is not the case liaw. hehe..

Normally, when i was flying on a plane alone (without any relatives or friends) i would always had bad and stupid thoughts that the plane would actually involve in some kind of turbulence or accident. Thats why when the flight take-off i always tell myself and God, "I am not so soi kua. God, please don't let me be the unlucky one. I still have a lot of things not yet do le.."

But that nite, since the Boss was flying with us so those stupid thoughts never crossed my mind. Because i believed the pilot would his give 99.9999% of his assurance to land his Boss safely in KL... With him in the plane, I can say that this is the safest ever flight i had ever board.

I managed to tooked another photo with him while he was on the plane ..
For me, he is no doubt the most prolific CEO in Malaysia. By just starting of with 2 scrapped plane with Airasia and now Airasia had 150 planes across the Asia Pacific. That is just Amazing !! So Mr.Tony, when are flying to Perth or South Island?? I wanna go on another vacation le ..

Introducing ..........

The Club of Bachelors (From left: Alan, Hector, Kah Seng, Me & Mike)

Eventually, it is Brian who actually help us took this photo because he is not part of the club. What the heck !! He got a gf liaw. What about those in pic?? !! Still at home play guli ar. haha... Really "sak pai" (cantonese) ar see myself inside...

Ok.ok. Just last tuesday (24th July) we manage to get mike to yumcha when he was stopping by KL before flying back to Miri the next day. Since Mike claimed that he never been to One Utama, so we decided to go there to have stroll then had our dinner there. I suggested that we go to a nyonya restaurant called Restoran Peranakan. I never eat there before neither did anyone of us. But I had heard from my friend in Kl saying that it is nice so we decided to give it a try.

Left: Pandan Chicken Up: Honey Sotong Down: Chicken Pong Teh Right: Paku

I still cannot figure out why it is call chicken pong teh. Erm, maybe after eat liaw, we will be very good in "pong" (angkat) people. hehehe ... Oh ya, back to food. I think the pandan chicken and honey sotong is really nice. Might go back try again next time.

After trying out the nyonya food in One Utama, we had nothing left to do ..still hungry because the portion in the nyonya restaurant is rather small .... and as usual we go Yumcha again !! haha. But this time at a famous Mamak in SS2 called Murni. If you want to have a taste of what Mamal stall taste like, Murni is definitely a place to go.

We ordered,

Roti Hawaii

Cheese Naan

Garlic Naan

Claypot Lau Shu fen

Murni Mango Special ( MUST TRY!!) but of coz not the hector's stupid way of drinking it la..

and hector look like he had never eaten Burger for the past 10 years !!OMG!! He look exactly a prisoner who just came out of jail.. ahha

I can safely say that all the food and drink above (other than hector's burger ayam) cannot be found in Miri. And they taste really good too...especially the claypot lau shu fen and the Mango Special. In fact , we ordered too many that we have to pass the food around and everyone have to eat a small portion of them in order to finished the food. Bear in mind , we just had our dinner just one hour ago before we came to this Mamak. So in this case, sharing is definitely caring .. haha ...

Before i end this post, brian and mike wound like to bid u guys farewell ..

haha.. Ok Thats all for now. Will be going to KK tomorrow. Gotta sleep now.*yawn*.. bye

Back home ...again..

Yeap. I am back home ..again. For your info, I just went back to Miri last Wednesday for an offshore job and had to get back to KL on Monday due to heavy workload in KL office. And today, I am back again in Miri for my trip to KK next week. I had taken 5 days leave for next week just for this Mount KK expedition and I am really looking forward to it as it is really getting boring in KL. Really have to thank Mike who had planned this earlier which has given me an alasan to "snake" from my workload in KL.

Anyway, when i reached the LCCT terminal in Kl, its nice to see that we had finally have this self-check in machine.

This machine really save me from the all trouble to queue in the check-in counter as the queue there is always long and slow. Some more the check in place is always crowded with people. With this machine around, it only took me 5 minutes to get my boarding pass because not much people are using it since it is still new. I still remember the first time i used a self check-in machine was in Brisbane Airport last year for my Australia holidays. No doubt that Malaysia are always slower than other countries in technology but i am glad that we had it now rather than never.

When I was in the plane, i bought myself an Manchester United souvenir t-shirt for RM39.

The front part of the t-shirt looks OK but the the back part of t-shirt really suck with the "Airasia" wordings. Bo pien ar, for the love of Manchester United and summore got lenglui air stewardess promote until like very nice, so ma have to give face a bit lo. haha..

Guess what I had for dinner once i reach Miri ?

"kai chuk" (porridge)

"kolo mee"

obviously, this is steamed chicken!! :)

Its the "kai chuk" stall in open market. Although I just had it last week i still missed it. haha...
Hungry liaw ma ruhui ? Know u don't like steamed chicken la... but dun worry, the stall nearby got sell roasted chicken also.haha..
And Kok Wei, your chicken porridge got as nice as this stall or not? If as nice as this stall, i straight away give your recipe to my mum ar. haha... And before i forget, thanks for setting up the chatter box for a noob like me :D .

A Noob writing his very first post ...

I have been facing my labtop from 11.30pm and till now(1.10am) i still cannot figure out what to write in my very first post. I guess i really had difficulty in expressing myself and my surrounding. Must the main reason why i can't get myself a gf till now huh :(.
After reading quite a numbers of blog, i can see that people can blog just about everything from food, traveling, technology, personal experiences, politics and etc. As for my blog, i would like to focus more on my gatherings with by high schoolmates for the pass few months and my traveling experiences. I still missed my trip to Australia last year. Will post up some pictures once i learn how to upload pictures in my blog. Really noooob in uploading pictures. Must consult Mr. COCK for some advices.
That's it for now. And for those who don't know, I am going climb Mount KK next week !!!! So excited that I am now counting the days to for the trip already. Hope time flies faster this week :) .
