The disappointing climb

On the way up: "Yes, we are going to the peak!!"

This trip was an exciting trip but also a disappointing trip. Reason being disappointed was that we did not make it to the peak of Mount Kinabalu because it was raining heavily when we were on the way to the peak. The guides said the trail was to slippery and dangerous as people might fall off the cliff if they continue the journey.
During the climb, it was all about rain rain and rain....

Me and Mikes's friends going out for dinner

It rains every time when we wanted to go out from the hostel. We had no choice but put on our raincoat and walked around 100 metres from our hostel to reception counter where we could get some food. Summore my rain coat is those "ciplak" type. Got wear rain coat like no wear rain coat. hehe ... It rained again the next morning when we were about to start our climb, once again we were forced to put on our raincoat to walk to the reception counter and to have a light breakfast.. The rain stopped after that and we begin our climb to Gunting Lagadan, the place where will be staying before going to the peak at 2am the next day.

Red lines indicates our journey on the first day of our climb

As you can see from the board above, there are 2 trails to reach the summit. We decided to took the longer trail from Mesilau because the view was much more scenic. It took us 8 hours to reach Gunting Lagadan.

Forgotten the name of this plant, but it eat insects

Plants getting smaller at the top

After 8 hours climb, we reach Gunting and had some food there.

Mike's noodle soup and my fried rice cost 15 bucks each and the milo cost 6 bucks. Things are expensive up there because the porter have to carry the Gas tong and food up there.
After that, we took our bath and went to bed. Woke up at around 1am to prepare for the climb to the peak. The weather at the time was fine, but once we started our journey at 2am the rains fall again. We continued to climb in the rain for about 1.5 hours but was force to come down with all
our clothes wet.
Back at Gunting with our clothes wet in the freaking cold weather

We are just 1.5 km short to the peak. So geram ar!

We actually climbed up to Km7 and forced to climb down. Damn we were just 1.5km short to the peak. Really disappointed ar. haih ...

On the way down: "Fuck! we did not make it"

We were suppose to took pictures with our KUFC jersey when we are on the peak. But instead we took it on our way down. Damn....

Other than the climb, we also went to Hotspring and also white water rafting ... hehe ..

White water rafting

Looks more like Yellow water rafting though

Can spot me ma?

And Hotspring...

I am actually expecting a hotspring like those i saw on Tv in Japan. Those with stones around it and hot water with steam coming out. Haih, turn out to be a small bath tub where you have to open the pipe to fill in the bath tub with hot water.

One year working experience

After today, i can add another statement in my CV.
  • 1 year working experience.
Time really fly very fast. It just seems like i am working for a few months only and i have been stranded in KL for nearly a year already(2 more weeks).

By this year end and next year, there will be lots more friends from my badge to join me in the workforce. Friends like Khairul, Siew Fah, Cynthina, Clifton and Teck Lim will be graduating by year end and Munan, Lilian and Alan will be graduating by mid of next year. And for those pursuing medicine degree (we have lots around 7 perhaps?), they will need at least another 2 years to graduate i believe. Lorna and Michael might be first doctor that will be graduating from my badge. Hope to get free treatments after they graduate. hehe...

Anyway if u ask me on whether i prefer working or studying, for Now i would say i prefer working. The main reason being that is because exams suck!! As for working, of coz you don't need to worry about examinations. Worst also kenak "cuci burid" by boss nia. The only thing i miss the most when i was studying was the long summer break that we always had after finishing each years studies. It could be as long as 3 months holiday. In the 3 months times, i can go yumcha, go play football and can go lepak until midnite cos you can sleep until afternoon for the next day. In Miri, my working hours is as early as 7am. Wat the heck. If yumcha until 2am, the next day sure "fishing" in office ar. haha ..
